The year of 1968 proved to be an integral part of the present academia
at Saginaw Valley State University. This was the year in which the
first certified teachers graduated from the Saginaw
Valley College of Education.
 This
marked a huge milestone for the area and began the trend of future
teachers to start their education locally at Saginaw Valley State
University. This also helped to market the school's image by attracting
other future teachers to come to this university from outside the
Tri-City area. By doing this, Saginaw Valley College was allowed
to show its other educational opportunities to potential students.
