In the fall of 1996, Saginaw Valley State University introduced
"The Card." This card is used as a combination identification and
library card that can also serve as a debit, ATM and phone card.
The card, which appears like a credit card, features a digital photo
of the student for security purposes.
The
activities to commemorate the long-awaited opening of West Complex
took place December 2,1997. The event included a ribbon-cutting
ceremony, a student and faculty reception, and a public reception.
West Complex became the largest building on campus and included
Groening Commons and Curtiss Hall. This multi-purpose facility serves
as the main entryway to the university's core campus and links the
Leland L. Doan Center with the Arbury Fine
Arts Center.
