Maurice E. Brown Hall Dedication

Maurice E. Brown Maurice E. Brown was an incorporator of the private Saginaw Valley College, founded in 1963, and was named to the first Board of Control when the College became part of the state's system of public colleges and universities in 1965. Dr. Brown also served on the "Committee of 300" that brought higher education to the Saginaw Valley. He was active in the development of Delta College and served on its Board of Trustees prior to SVC's formation.

Brown Hall ConstructionDr. Brown was a member of the Saginaw City Council from 1951 to 1957, and was mayor of the City of Saginaw from 1955 to 1957. A graduate of the University of Michigan's School of Engineering, he was secretary-treasurer and manager of the Saginaw Central Oil Co. He received an honorary Doctor of Laws degree from SVC in 1969.

Maurice E. Brown Hall is 28,783 square feet and contains classrooms, faculty offices, student lounges, psychology and foreign language laboratories.
